Getting there…..

I am officially proud of myself. I’m reading considerably more than I have been and I’m enjoying it sooooo much!

The goal for the year was to read 25 books I’ve never read before. Additionally, 5 of those 25 books are to be biographical in nature. I felt – and still do – that this is a reasonable goal considering my overall lack of reading anything lately and it will allow me time to relax with some of my old faves like Wuthering Heights and Tale of Two Cities now and then.

So far this year I have completed:
The Lovely Bones
Veronika Decides to Die
The Soloist (biographical-ish?)
Three Cups of Tea

Right now I’m reading:
Alice I Have Been
Water for Elephants
The Reagan Diaries
Lent and Easter Wisdom (daily reflections by Fulton J. Sheen)

The Reagan Diaries and the reflections by Bishop Sheen – and I don’t want to minimize their importance by saying this – but they are sort of what I read in passing….I read the reflection by Bishop Sheen when I wake up before I get ready for work and I read Reagan on the couch while I’m trying to block out the TV 🙂

In any case, I realized that I have another category of books that I’m ignoring…..books that I started in the past and put aside but never got back to….my only solution to these is to use them as filler and not count them toward the 25 book goal. there aren’t that many of them….maybe 3 or 4….but I put them aside when I either couldn’t focus on them or just completely lost interest…..but I would at least like to finish them so I can say that I did, ya know?

Anyway, things are looking good and I don’t remember the last time my library card got this much use!
