Blogger Insider

Blogger Insider

For this round of Blogger Insider, I was paired up with Jolene – whoo-hoo!!

1. Okay, I gotta ask. Happy Pills: Do you take ’em? Have you ever? What’s your experience been?

Yup, I do take them – Prozac Weekly to be exact. Started taking them for a bout with PPD, but it was diagnosed very late and I haven’t been able to shake the whole mess off yet mainly because I am terrible with remembering to take medication…..that’s why I switched to the Prozac Weekly, I was taking Effexor before that. Fortunately, the biggest problem I’ve had is severe anxieties and the med helps that alot.

2. Again, I have to ask… Digital-darkness… Palemama… I know you’re moving away from these monikers now, but at the time you assigned them, were you one of them fandangled Goths?

Sure!! I am very Goth 🙂 I’m also very fickle when it comes to personality based names for some reason…..but Digital-Darkness was actually supposed to be a collaboration between me and Bill – our internet ID’s both begin with ‘dark’ so we just wound up with that for the domian. He never got around to doing anything with it so I eventually took the whole thing over 🙂

3. Cheater question! How is the little Brittany doing?

Wonderful! She is going to nursury school now and seems to love it – she’s eager to go everyday and hates to leave 🙂 She loves to talk and dance and sing and listen to Nickleback, Default and Linkin Park. She is still a very finicky eater but she’s not losing weight and is impossibly tall…….short answer: she’s doing well 🙂

4. What has been the most surprising thing about motherhood for you? Was there something that you were expecting to be one way that ended up being so completely different that it baffled you?

The most surprising thing……I guess even though she is Mama’s Little Girl, Brittany doesn’t have any seperation anxiety when I take her to school…..as soon as I get her there, she runs off to play waving at me over her shoulder.

The one thing I have come to know about Brittany is that I can’t expect anything…hell, I expected her to be boy! But every day, she does something to amaze me…..today she sang ‘Frosty the Snowman’ through from beginning to end without missing a single word and acting it out!

5. What exactly do you do at work?

I’m a lab technician at the {{huge unnamed veterinary teaching school}}. Basically, I do blood work for dogs and cats….mostly blood work, anyway – complete blood counts, chemistries, blood typing and crossmatching. We also do urinalysis and examinations of other fluids like spinal fluid, joint taps, mucus and fluid that has accumulated around the heart, lungs and stomach.

For the past few months, I have also been working in another lab at the hospital filling in for someone on maternity leave. In that lab, I embed tissue samples (that have been removed during surgury or autopsies) in parafin so that they can be sliced down and slides can be made for evaluation and further study.

6. How did you and Bill meet?

We met at a grocery store, actually. A friend of mine went there to talk to a guy she knew that worked there and I went with….a little while later this gorgeous guy walked in that was a friend of the guy. It was Bill 🙂 We talked for a bit and I didn’t see him for two weeks after that when we all made a group trip to go Christmas shopping and then went to play pool 🙂

7. Do you and Bill plan to have any more children?

I hope to. Very much, as a matter of fact. Hopefully sooner than later but at the moment I need to know what is going to happen with my job and a few other things first. I mean I usually only work weekends – 16 hours a week. But I want to go full time – that’s 35 hours. I also want to go back to school but if I do that, I’d only be taking 1 or 2 classes a semester. Basically, we just need to get everything more stable before we have another baby.

8. What is your idea of a dream vacation? Where would you go? Who would be with you? How long would you stay gone?

A grand tour of the British Isle with extended stays in London and Bristol. Just me, Bill and Brittany 🙂 How long would I stay? Assuming I have to come back? Oh, God….I don’t know……I really couldn’t say.

9. I have to ask a computer question too! How long do you see yourself keeping your journal/blog online?

Hmmm. I don’t know. I didn’t see it going on for this long, actually. I guess until I come up with a better way to express myself….? Or until we can’t afford the web space (cuz I’m not going back to you-know-where). But even if it came to that, I’d probably still keep my journal in the computer.

10. What has been your most positive experience in an online sense? Whether it be through your journal, your blog or another online community.

Oh, sure….ask me the difficult questions when I need a nap. I honestly, honestly think that the most positive thing that keeping an online journal has allowed me to be a part of is one particular group that I belong to. I love it, love it, love it! Made some great friends, found some other incredible journals to read and get lots of neat suggestions for things to write about 🙂

Thanks for the great questions, hon!! Now I should probably go get some things done………..

Love Park – part 2

Remember my previous post about Love Park? Yeah, well we’ve had protestors and such down there since the decision was announced – according to Bill, they don’t actually appear to be protesting….it looks more like the ticket line for a Prodigy concert, but anyway…..

Tell me that one of them didn’t do this…..go ahead…..prove it.

And, dudes….? If you were trying to change their minds, $17,000 worth of damage to a city treasure is hardly the way to prove your point…..matter of fact, I think you just made their argument stronger.

Love Park

They are going to be renovating Love Park…..and they are pissing people off.

Ya know what? I love the park, I think it’s great….that is when you aren’t ducking so you won’t get hit in the head with a flying idiot or his skateboard…………..I’m glad to see the change.

As long as they keep the sculpture.

The Friday Five – 04.26.02

The Friday Five

1. What are your hobbies?

Hmmmm. Journalling, first and foremost…even if most of the time it is in the digital format. I like to draw when I get the chance, mostly pencil portraits. I don’t get to read as often as I would like but I love a good murder mystery/serial killer book. The Sims is quickly becomeing a hobby but I’m not sure that’s a good thing :-

2. Do you collect anything? If so, what?

Cabbage Patch Kids. I also find mistreated orphans at flea markets, second hand shops or even on eBay and clean them up and ‘find them new homes………..it sounds cruel to say I put them up for auction.

3. Is there a hobby you’re interested in, but just don’t have the time/money to do?

Gardening. Not so much that I don’t have the time or the money….we don’t have the yard. We have a couple of patches of dirt out front which, in reality, would actually be prety nice all planted with flowers…but I think too big and then get discouraged that I can’t do everything I want with what we have. I’m going to try to do something this year though………

4. Have you ever turned a hobby into a moneymaking opportunity?

Just the Cabbage Patch Kids and I don’t do that as often as I should. I have a box of them sitting in my closet that can use a bath and some clothes…….

5. Besides web-related stuff (burbs, rings, etc.), what clubs do you belong to?

You mean actually going out and seeing people face to face???? LOL 🙂 Well, I go to my Weight Watchers meetings every week…..and I try to stay involved with my high school alumnae…..other than that, nothing…..I really am not all that much of a people person. No, really 😉

Windows XP – part 2

Okay, I’m diggin’ it….I think I can live with XP. I got rid of that flamin’ blue and set it on silver so it’s not too bad……of course, when I’m not running to check on the sick baby, I’ve got my head stuck in the Sims…..

Windows XP

I have Windows XP.

I dunno…..it’s a little fruity looking so far but I haven’t had much chance to play with it yet. I’m trying to avoid setting it to WinClassic mode, so I have to see what I can do with it when I get home from work tomorrow.

I do know that it runs Sims, though 🙂

Bill is such a sweetie….we went out to CompUSA tonight and not only did he get me the actual Sims game (not the download I had from Morpheus ;-), he also got me the Livin’ Large Expansion – whoo-hoo!!

He is so cool 🙂

The Friday Five

1. What’s your favorite TV show and why?

Crossing Jordan‘, no question. As soon as I saw the previews for this one last fall, I knew it was gonna hook me and I couldn’t wait to see the first episode……haven’t missed one since. Why? Well, it probably wouldn’t have caught my attention so forcefully if it wasn’t for Jill Hennessy (of Law & Order fame…remember Claire?), but this is my kind of show anyway…..remember, I wanted to be an ME 😉

2. Who is your favorite television star?

I’m gonna have to say it’s Jill Hennessy 🙂 Although I do get a huge kick out of Brad Garrett‘s character on ‘Everybody Loves Raymond‘.

3. What was your favorite TV show as a child?

Laverne & Shirley‘ 🙂 I never did like it after they moved to California though…..I still can’t watch those episodes :-p

4. What show do you think should have been cancelled by now?

Well….as much as I hate to say it because I really do enjoy the show, I think ‘Frasier‘ has seen it’s day. I love to watch the re-runs on FOX, but I haven’t watched the new shows in a very long time…..it’s just time to put it to rest, I think.

5. What new show do you hope escapes the axe this season?

Ummm, I really don’t know. I mean besides ‘Crossing Jordan‘, there wasn’t really anything new this season that I picked up on. I think ‘That ’80s Show‘ is cute but it just doesn’t have as much appeal as it’s predecessor.

Too hot…..

It’s just too hot….for anything…..I don’t think I formed a single coherent thought today except:

“It should not be this hot in April……….”

……almost midnight and it’s 81degrees :-p

Thrown

Okay, so everything got thrown a bit tonight….shortly after posting the last entry here, the transformer up the street blew up. PECO was just out here last week installing a new one and the thing was either faulty or just not ready to handle the warm weather gush of electricity – yeah, it’s warm….went up to 93degrees today….but, much as I may want to, I have issues about running the AC before May…..so I was more than annoyed that the majority of my neighbors felt the need, thus screwing up my night.

I was planning on washing the car anyway and letting Britt play with the hose and all so we did…..earlier than I expected because when the transformer blew up, it woke her from her nap. I washed the car and was going to clean the interior and all but since I couldn’t use the vacuum, I couldn’t do the perfect job that I wanted to do….then Brittany started getting bored and by this time it was after 6, still without power and no way to make our dinner.

So we packed everything up from the yard tossed it in the hose and went down my parents house to make something for dinner.

I guess it’s kinda silly, but when it’s a power outage due to thunder-storms or high winds or something, it doesn’t bother me…..mainly because it’s not 500degrees in the house. I really get annoyed when it’s a “brown out” or an accident that does it…..

Pisses me off…..

New Dedicated

New post over at Dedicated….this one is just for Bill 🙂
